They were all written by Joe Morrish as coursework for Music Industry Management BA at Buckinghamshire Chilterns University College, and should by no means be taken as all-encompassing or 100% accurate - rather, as an intoduction to various music industry topics.

Art Vs Commerce >>
This essay focuses on two quotes from music-sociology authors and examines the relationship between creativity and the business side of music, and whether they are always conflicting issues. Issues relating to music ‘genre’ are also discussed, with the Britpop period of the 1990’s as a point of focus.
Music Publishing >>
Describes and explains the concept of music publishing, and what roles modern-day music publishers play within the music industry, and their relationship with songwriters, musicians and other companies. The essay looks at what kind of input publishers have in both a creative and a business sense.
The Role of a Producer >>
Examines what exactly a music ‘producer’ is, their relationship with
artists/ labels, and their role in the music industry. Examples of well-known producers are used to enhance the explanations of different kinds of music ‘producer’. There is some discussion of how studios/ equipment play a part in the production of music
